It Has Been A Busy Summer

It has been an amazing summer and just because the sun was out and the snow had long ago melted away, we didn’t stop thinking about winter.

We have been hard at work developing some new products as well as refining the awesome range of services we already offer.

With the first lifts expected to turn in just over 3 weeks, we couldn’t be happier with what we have put together for this season and we can’t wait to see all of the familiar faces who tour with us every season. Not to mention all the new faces of those who will be coming out with us for the first time this winter.

This is post #1 of a 3 part series where we will introduce you to what we have been busy working on over the summer months.

#1 – Summer Hokkaido Workshop

A summer adventure anywhere in Hokkaido is pretty unique. Imagine a lime green forest landscape intertwined with colorful flower farms and rice fields, crystal blue rivers and lakes, as well as an abundance of locally grown fruit, vegetables and mix it with cultural festivals, friendly locals and long summer days. This coupled with the wild mountainous terrain and wildlife makes for a special experience.

Hokkaido is a photographer’s playground year round, but particularly in winter. During the coldest months of the year, the snow covered plains of Hokkaido become a minimalist photographers dream with a blanket of white only broken by the contrast of lone trees and derelict structures. Then when the ice drifts float in on the Sea of Okhostk, so does a plethora of wildlife, not to mention the spectacular terrestrial species found along the way. These include the spotted seal, Stella’s sea eagle, whopper swans, red-crowned cranes, the Ezo red fox, Hokkaido sika deer, the endangered Blakiston’s fish owl and more.

Stay posted for our next blog where we will introduce you to our new camps for 2018-19.
